Annual Weeklong Ride from Fredericksburg to Driftwood, Texas

Join us March 2 through 10, 2012 on an event-filled trail ride through 8 major Texas cities. The Original Texas Star Trail from Fredericksburg, Texas, offers an annual weeklong ride through historic Texas hill country.

The Original Texas Star Trail
The Trail is an adventure taking you through Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, Stonewall, Johnson City, Blanco, Fischer, Wimberley, and Driftwood. Each year, about 300 people take part in the 112-mile ride. We cross 40 cattle guards through more than 20 hill country ranches, including the LBJ Ranch. It's the experience of a lifetime

Itinerary
Friday, March 2: Fredericksburg, Texas. Gather, check in, and register. We camp there that night and start the trail ride the next morning. We are at the horse racetrack at Fredericksburg at the Gillespie County Fair and Festival Grounds, right off Highway 16 South, toward Kerville.

Saturday, March 3: Fredericksburg to Luckenbach—17 miles. Cattle call at 6:00 a.m. We move rigs at 7:30 a.m., bus back at 8:00 a.m., and ride out at 9:00 a.m. We will cross 4 to 5 ranches, end up in downtown Luckenbach, participate in their Texas Independance celebration and then do a dinner dance in one of the oldest dance halls in Texas.

Sunday, March 4: Luckenbach to Stonewall, Texas—13 miles. This short day starts with church service at 8:45 a.m. on horseback. Then we ride to Stonewall. The campsite there is Burges's Corner.

Monday, March 5: Stonewall to Johnson City, Texas -- 14 miles. We actually ride through the LBJ Ranch and get a guided tour of the Texas White House. End up at the 5 Hands Ranch outside of Johnson City on Flat Creek Rd.

Tuesday, March 6: Johnson City to Blanco, Texas—18 miles. We ride through about 8 ranches and reach the highest elevation point of Blanco County. We do a parade through downtown Blanco and end up at Yett Memorial Park. Activities planned that night are raffle and exhibition team roping.

Wednesday, March 7: Blanco to Fischer, Texas—15 miles. End up at the Cowboys for Jesus Church in Fischer. They provide dinner and Christian entertainment.

Thursday, March 8: Fischer to Wimberley, Texas—17 miles. End up at the VFW Hall with campfires that night.

Friday, March 9: Wimberley VFW Rodeo Arena Play Day.  Wagon Driving Contest and Ranch Sorting.

Saturday, March 10: Wimberley to Driftwood, Texas—15 miles. Arrive at 4:30pm at Camp Ben McCulloch. 5 o'clock end of the ride celebration.  Ride Ends.. See You Next Year.
